From the late 12th century or early 13th century , the interchange of the streets Los Reyes Catolicos and the Angel was known as "Arquillo Jew". This small passage divided between the Assuica and Alacava Jewish neighborhoods. Also, the Synagogue Sofer was situated here, one of the nine synagogues of the city. However, the synagogue did not survive until this day. The legend says that this place witnessed the sale of the crown jewels of Queen Isabella to a local Jew in order to finance Columbus's trip to America.
