Summary

The synagogue of Cavaillon is one of the oldest synagogues in France. It was built in the late Middle Ages. The first reconstruction of the building was in 1771 and a few years later it was rebuilt.


History and time period

The synagogue is designed in two overlapping volumes, connected by an outside staircase. The upper room is for men. The lower room is for women, where they also served baked goods.
