Micha Ullman's "Empty Library" is located in Bebelplatz, which is on the south side of Unter den Linden. The square used to be called Opernplatz, but after World War Two the name of the square was changed and named after August Bebel, the social democrat party leader in the 19th century. The square is known for the eve of the book burning, which occurred on the 10th of May, 1933. Over 20 thousand books were burnt.
