Summary

Every March the municipality of Jerusalem puts together The Old City Food Festival, a unique event which celebrates the diversity and cultural richness of the Old City. It offers the public a chance to explore both the ancient city as well as the culinary traditions of its ancient four quarters. The festival is a week-long event, and it offers many different activities including guided tours, wine tasting, pottery demonstrations, photo exhibits, open air chef master classes, food stalls and food markets. Sections of the Old City are brought to life and used as a stage: in past years the Cardo, for example, has been transformed into a Byzantine food market and the plaza outside of the Damascus Gate has been used as an outdoor arena for jazz concerts. Additionally, there are workshops and activities held at the Armenian Courtyard, Hurva Square, Muristan Square, Davidson Center and of course Jaffa Gate.
