Summary

The Place des Martyrs-Jews-the Velodrome d'Hiver is a street located in Paris. This crossroads was named in memory of the Velodrome d'Hiver roundup of July 16 and 17 1942. This site features a memorial inaugurated on 17 July 1994. It represents innocent civilians (children, pregnant women, the elderly) who were victims of the raid. The base of the statue is curved, recalling the Winter Velodrome track 1. Every year there is a memorial ceremony held on the first Sunday after the 16th of July.
