Summary

This narrow street, on the south side of the site of the former synagogue in Kaifeng, still contains some people who claim to be descended from the old Jewish community. The street was previously called the Lane of the Sinew-Plucking Religion, in reference to the Jewish practice of removing the sciatic nerve during kosher butchering.
